Privacy Policy — Portal Pages: Times Tables

This policy describes how Portal Pages: Times Tables (the “App”) handles information when you install and use it on an Android device. The App is published on Google Play by Page and Portal (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Summary
- No account is required — no email signup and no cloud login.
- Always free — no ads and no in-app purchases. This is permanent product policy, not a temporary promotion.
- No analytics or advertising SDKs — we do not receive usage or behaviour data from the App.
- No internet connection is required for normal use after installation (opening the hosted privacy policy link is optional).
- Practice progress, profiles, and settings stay on your device unless you use Android’s backup features or move data by changing devices yourself.
- Play Data safety is intended to match this local-only story: we do not collect or sell children’s data through the App.
1. Information we collect
We do not operate servers that receive personal data from the App. The App does not include third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising tools that send data to us or to ad networks.
The App does not ask for an email address, date of birth, phone number, or payment details.
On the device itself, a grown-up may enter an optional display name for the Parent/Guardian profile and first names (or nicknames) for child profiles so the family can tell profiles apart. These names stay only on the device. We do not receive them.
When you contact us by email (for example about support), we receive only what you choose to send in that message.
2. Information stored on your device
To provide practice, progress, profiles, and settings, the App stores data locally on the device:

This information is not linked to an online account in the App and is not transmitted to us by the App during ordinary use.
3. Device permissions
The App may request:

The App does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or internet access for its core features. Learn mode may use the device’s built-in text-to-speech engine to read facts aloud; speech is processed on the device by Android, not sent to us.
4. Home screen widget
If you add the optional practice widget, it opens the App so someone can choose a child profile before practice. The widget does not send data to us.
5. Children and families
The App is designed for children practising times tables (about ages 6–12), with a Parent/Guardian area protected by a PIN. Child display names and Help notes are stored only so the family can use the App on one shared device.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through our servers. Because the App does not send profile or practice data to us, we do not sell or share children’s personal information for advertising, and the App does not show ads.
Parents and guardians can review each child’s progress and Help notes in the App, change which tables are open, use PIN protection for the grown-up area, and uninstall the App or clear app data in Android settings to remove locally stored information.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your information.
We do not share App usage, profile, or practice data with third parties for marketing or analytics.
Limited sharing may occur only in these situations:
- You choose to share from the App — optional share actions in the grown-up area (for example a weekly progress snapshot) use the device’s normal Android share sheet. That text, which may include a child’s display name, leaves the App only if you pick a destination (email, messaging, etc.). We do not receive it unless you send it to us.
- You choose to contact us (e.g. support email).
- Google Play — Google processes information according to its own policies when you download, update, or interact with the store (see Google Play Terms and Google Privacy Policy).
- Legal requirements — if we are required to disclose information by applicable law or a valid legal process.
7. Android backup and new devices
The App may allow Android backup (for example to a Google account), depending on your device and system settings. Backup content is controlled by Google and your device manufacturer, not by us. If you restore the App on another device, profiles, practice history, Help notes, and settings may be restored with it.
To remove App data from a device: Settings → Apps → Portal Pages: Times Tables → Storage → Clear data (wording may vary by device).
8. Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on the device until you delete a child profile in the App, clear app storage, uninstall the App, or replace the device without restoring a backup. Deleting a child profile removes that child’s practice history and Help notes from the App’s local database.
We do not retain copies of your profiles, practice history, or Help notes on our servers, because the App does not send them to us.
9. Security
We design the App to keep information on the device. The grown-up area is protected by a hashed 4-digit PIN rather than storing the PIN in readable form. Child display names and Help notes are stored in the App’s local database without encryption beyond what Android provides for app storage, so no method of storage is perfectly secure; please use device lock screens and PIN features appropriate for your family.
10. International users
If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you may have rights under data protection law (such as access, correction, or deletion) in relation to personal data we hold — for example, in support emails. Because the App does not send profile or practice data to us, most requests will concern information you sent us directly or data on your device that you control via Android and the App’s own delete options.
Our lawful basis for processing any contact information you send us is typically legitimate interests (responding to enquiries) or consent, depending on the context.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or legal requirements change. We will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. For significant changes, we may also note them in the App or store listing where appropriate.
